Sometimes we think that we can do everything on our own and save a lot of time and money. I have found through the years that when some people take on tasks too big for them, they usually spend MORE time and MORE money to get the job done right.
As a remodeling contractor, I get a lot of calls where someone has started a project and cannot finish for one reason or another. They might have torn out a wall, and in the process, all the electrical to the kitchen was taken too! Not only did they spend a lot of time, they now have to hire someone to fix the problem that wasn't even a problem to begin with.
My counsel to anyone wishing to do work themselves would be to get a quote or a bid from a professional first. That way, they can analyze if the risk of mistake is worth the try or not. Often, it is better to get the righ person the first time and save a lot of headache. The TV shows make it look easier than it is...they also have sponsors to pay for the work...home owner's do not have that luxury!
This cabin needed a lot of serious work done to it. We takled the job and finished it up to the owner's specifications!

We are really pleased with how this remodel turned out. It makes a world of difference, and it seems as if it is a new home!

Some projects are not quite as extensive as this one, but it sure was fun to see the transformation take place. To create beauty out of something that many folks might think otherwise is truly a wonderful experience!
